NYC's iconic street ball courts go quiet during pandemic

In the six weeks since New York Mayor Bill de Blasio's actions, iconic street ball landmarks such as Rucker Park in Harlem, Brooklyn's Gersh Park, "The Cage" on West 4th Street in Greenwich Village, Dyckman Park in Washington Heights and others have all been void of the typical soundtrack that help usher in the spring warmup across the five boroughs.

A race to deliver food to the elderly left alone

The coronavirus pandemic has kept loved ones apart, younger family members fearful of bringing the disease to older relatives who may be so much more susceptible. That's driven Carla Brown even more to make sure those elderly are receiving the care they need through her meals-on-wheels program that has seen an increase in deliveries in recent weeks.

Harlem woman celebrates her 100th birthday

Esther Semidey has been living in Harlem for more than 70 years and on Friday, she celebrated her 100th birthday in style, surrounded by friends and family at the Carter Burden/Leonard Covello Senior Center.
