Suspects plead not guilty to murder charges in strip club shooting

NEWARK, N.J. (AP) -- Three men charged in the fatal shooting of another man outside a New Jersey strip club late last year have pleaded not guilty to murder and other charges.

Essex County prosecutors say Yanafi Mojica, Armand Padron and Nathaniel Garcia were all arraigned Monday. The three Elizabeth men had been indicted last month.

The counts against them stem from the Oct. 8 shooting death of Michael Williams II. Prosecutors say the 28-year-old Newark man and the three suspects had argued inside the Belleville club and the dispute soon spilled outside, where Mojica allegedly shot Williams.

Authorities have not said what the men were arguing about.

All three suspects face charges of murder, conspiracy to commit murder and two weapons offenses. All three remain jailed in lieu of bail.
