1 man dead, child injured in shooting in Belleville

NEW JERSEY - Essex County police confirmed to FOX 5 NY that a homicide investigation is underway at an apartment complex in Belleville, New Jersey.
37-year-old Francis Medina was shot, and his 4-year-old son was hit Saturday afternoon, according to police.
According to the County prosecutor's office, Medina was fatally shot, and a young child was also shot and is in the hospital, but expected to be okay.
A woman claiming to be the child's grandmother told FOX 5 NY that the child was shot twice in the leg and is currently receiving treatment.
Detectives cleared the scene after shots were fired.
Police are working to determine what led up to the double shooting that ended Medina's life.
