Man fatally shot outside Hell's Kitchen apartment; suspect on the run
NEW YORK - A 35-year-old man was fatally shot early Saturday morning in Hell’s Kitchen, according to police.
Police say Sharif Jackson was found with two gunshot wounds to his torso around 3 a.m. outside his apartment building.
He was conscious and alert when first responders arrived but later died at a nearby hospital.
Police sources revealed that Jackson and the suspect, who remains at large, did not know each other but had gotten into a verbal dispute before the shooting.
Heavily armed officers stormed the building, believing the shooter might be inside, but their search yielded no arrests.
The NYPD is asking anyone with information about the incident to call 1-800-577-TIPS as the investigation continues.
