Human remains found near Long Island's Montauk Highway; man arrested
LONG ISLAND - Police arrested a 72-year-old man on Friday for concealment of a body after finding human remains along Montauk Highway.
Garry Cowell from Patchogue was also charged with tampering with physical evidence, according to Suffolk County police.
Homicide squad detectives had been investigating the remains that were found in East Patchogue Thursday afternoon.
The details around the extent of the remains found are still pending. The identity of the deceased has not been released.
The remains were transported to the medical examiner for an autopsy and identification.
