Girl, 7, on scooter struck, killed by armored truck
NEW YORK - An armored truck struck and killed a 7-year-old girl riding a scooter in Brooklyn, police said.
The truck hit the child shortly after 4 p.m. Monday as she was crossing Bay 23rd Street in the Bath Beach section, police said.
The girl, identified as 7-year-old Sama Ali, was taken to a hospital, where she was pronounced dead. The driver remained at the scene and was not charged.

Neighborhood resident Saleem Mohammed, 62, said he saw the girl’s scooter in the street. “She was in the crosswalk," Mohammed told the Daily News. "He was making a left turn and he knocked into her. We’ll pray for her.”
Canada-based GardaWorld, the maker of the truck, told the Daily News the company is conducting an internal investigation into the crash. “All of us at GardaWorld are deeply saddened by the news of this tragic accident. Our thoughts and prayers, and our deepest condolences go out to the family and loved ones of the decedent,” company officials said.
