BRONX - A fire broke out inside a Bronx apartment building Wednesday evening, damaging several units, according to the FDNY.
Officials say the blaze started at 3030 Heath Avenue around 6:00 p.m.
Cell phone video obtained by FOX 5 NY from neighbors, showed flames bursting through the roof of the apartment as people watched from below.
Firefighters say they arrived within minutes of the call and found heavy fire on the top floor, in the cockloft, and along the roof.
According to FDNY Chief of Operations Kevin Woods, crews were forced to use multiple hand lines and open voids in the cockloft in order to contain the fire.
"The main challenge this evening, besides the amount of fire, was the wind," Woods said.
No residents were injured, but nearly ten apartments were extensively damaged.
Residents who were displaced were assisted by the American Red Cross.
Two firefighters sustained minor injuries.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
