Do youth sports push kids too hard?

It might not feel like it, but it is spring. That means across this country it is time for kids to head out to ball fields and baseball diamonds for spring sports.

As they head out, there are growing concerns that coaches and parents are pushing these kids too hard, leading to more and more injuries. It's the focus of a panel at NYU that is asking the dramatic question: are we cheering our kids to death?

Dr. Arthur Caplan is head of NYU Langone's Division of Bioethics. He says the evidence is clear. He says we are burning out our kids' bodies.

The NYU panel brought together coaches and medical professionals to analyze topics like whether kids starting sports early and specializing on a single sport year round is leading to more injuries.

The topic of concussions dominates national focus on youth safety recently.

Dr. Caplan believes that as medical professionals continue to sound alarms, more restrictions will be put in place at a younger age. He believes that tackling will be limited or eliminated completely in practices.

A focus on safety, perhaps balancing more with the pressure to perform.
