Deputies: Man bit by dog during possible abduction attempt of young girl

COWETA COUNTY, Ga. - A dog is being credited with preventing a 12-year-old girl from possibly being abducted this past week.

According to a police incident report, it happened in the Timberridge subdivision just off of U.S. 29. Coweta County deputies stated a man in a single-cab Dodge Ram pickup pulled up to the girl as was walking her dog around 5 p.m. Monday. Deputies then stated the man offered the young girl a ride and when she refused, the man got out of the pickup to approach her. That’s when the dog intervened. Investigators state the dog bit the man.

According to the police report, the man quickly got back into his pickup truck and headed back to U.S. 29.

The man is described by investigators as being white between 50 and 60 years old, about 6 feet tall, weighing about 250 pounds, wearing blue jeans, a white t-shirt, an Atlanta Braves baseball cap, and brown cowboy boots.

Investigators stated they are also searching for the single-cab black Dodge Ram pickup with a lift kit and large tires.

The New Talk 106.7's Christy Hutchings spoke with the young victim and her mother. The mother said they are actually trying to get their dog, Oliver, evaluated and trained as a service animal to help her daughter who suffers from several health issues.
