Remembering MLK's speech at a Newark school

In 1968, Winthrop McGriff was the 17-year-old senior class president at South Side High School in Newark and was looking for someone to speak at his class assembly. His grandfather, the pastor of Newark's Canaan Baptist Church, knew Martin Luther King Jr. and asked him to speak at Winthrop's school. The civil rights leader said yes. So on March 27, 1968, King appeared on stage at South Side High and spoke for about 20 minutes.
