Coney Island Boardwalk landmark status
Just in time for summer, the Riegelmann Boardwalk at Coney Island is being designated a scenic landmark. The honor came on the boardwalk's 95th birthday. The iconic waterfront promenade officially opened May 15, 1923. The 2.7-mile boardwalk between West 37th Street and Brighton 15th Street is a destination for New Yorkers and tourists alike.
