Survivors hospitalized
Six people were on a privately chartered helicopter that went into the East River. The pilot was able to free himself and get out of the sinking craft but the fate of the passengers was not as good. They were strapped into their seats and city divers had to cut the 5 from their restraints inside the helicopter after it went underwater. Two died at the scene. Three others were taken to the hospital. They were believed to be in critical condition.
