New Jersey tax burden legislation

New Jersey has some of the highest property taxes in the country which is why residents will be some of the hardest hit by the GOP tax reform that limits the so-called SALT deduction to $10,000. But the Democratic-led state Senate just passed a bill that lawmakers say would soften the blow. The measure allows towns and school districts that collect property taxes to set up charitable funds. Taxpayers could then pay taxes to the funds and get a deductible tax credit in return.
