Rape kit billing

On what is undoubtedly one of the worst days of a survivor's life, sexual assault victims are given a forensic rape examination typically known as a rape kit. An investigation by Attorney General Eric Schneiderman's Office found that Brooklyn Hospital Center billed patients for rape kits in 85 cases from 2015 to 2017. Those charges averaged $900 each.
