Weinstein scandal

Manhattan District Attorney Cyrus Vance Jr. called a recording of Harvey Weinstein "insufficient to prove a crime" under New York law. On Wednesday, he defended his decision not to prosecute the case in 2015. After the case was dismissed, Weinstein's lawyer made a $10,000 donation to Vance's reelection campaign, according to an International Business Times review of campaign finance documents. Vance said that had no influence on his decision.
