City employee still on the job after 62 years
Shirley Williams was hired by New York City at the age of 18. And she hasn't looked back since. That was in 1953. Some six decades later, Williams is still on the payroll. They say in all of the city agencies, not a single soul has worked for as many years on the job as Williams – 62 to be exact. Every morning still to this day, she catches that train in the Bronx and comes to the Administration for Child Services in Lower Manhattan.
