Holocaust children's tree planted in Lower Manhattan

A emotional tree dedication took place at the Museum of Jewish Heritage in Battery Park City on Thursday, Dec. 2, 2021. A group of children imprisoned at the Theresienstadt concentration camp during the Holocaust planted a tree in secret inside the camp. Although the tree was later destroyed in a flood, saplings had been cut from it and planted all across the world. A philanthropist in Pennsylvania owns a farm where seven trees grown from the original tree are now thriving. He agreed to donate one to the museum in New York.
