Social media platform X, formerly known as Twitter, appeared to be down for many users Tuesday morning.

Fidelity was part of the investment group that helped Elon Musk take over Twitter in late 2022.

The European Union has opened an investigation into Elon Musk’s social media platform X under its Digital Services Act (DSA). 

Musk had previously said he would not allow Alex Jones back on the platform, citing the death of his first child. "I have no mercy for anyone who would use the deaths of children for gain, politics or fame," Musk said at the time.

The site formerly known as Twitter has begun charging a $1 fee to new users in two countries in an effort to cut down on the spam and fake accounts.

In response, one expert said the moderation efforts from X, formerly known as Twitter, "are only addressing a drop in the bucket."

Linda Yaccarino said the platform is close to breaking even.

A now-deleted post from Donald Trump Jr.'s X (formerly Twitter) account said his father had passed away and that Trump Jr. would take over his bid for the presidency.

Users called Musk's proposal a mistake, adding that it would allow troll accounts to harass them.
