Trump says 'toughest' weeks ahead as coronavirus spreads

President Donald Trump warned Saturday that the county could be headed into its “toughest” weeks yet as the coronavirus death toll mounts, but at the same time he expressed growing impatience with social distancing guidelines and said he’s eager to get the country reopened and its stalled economy back on track.

Ice hockey program for girls

For decades, young girls on Long Island who loved the game of hockey couldn't find their own team. So Alexis Moed took her experience as a Division I hockey player at Boston College to turn girls hockey clinics into more. She founded the New York Islanders Girls Elite Hockey Program.

Islanders back to the Coliseum

New York Islanders fans have been waiting for this announcement: Gov. Andrew Cuomo announced Monday that the Islanders will split their home games for at least the next three seasons between the Nassau Coliseum and Barclays Center while a new state-of-the-art arena is constructed at Belmont Park.

Islanders to return to Nassau County

The New York Islanders are coming back to Long Island, according to several sources who have been following the team's plans. Hempstead Town Supervisor-elect Laura Gillen said she would have preferred to see the Islanders return to Nassau Veterans Memorial Coliseum in Uniondale, but she is glad the state is paving the way for the team to at least relocate to Nassau County.

Brandon Bloom may never be able to play hockey, his favorite sport. But on Tuesday, he lived every fan's dream. The 8-year-old was given an all-access pass including an honorary locker and the official gear to practice with the New York Islanders.
