Kelly Kennedy

Kelly Kennedy is a native New Yorker who is thrilled to be back home reporting for FOX 5. After more than a decade of chasing stories at TV stations across the country, she’s excited to bring that experience back to the city where she was raised.

Before joining FOX 5, Kelly was the weekend evening anchor and a reporter for News 12 The Bronx and Brooklyn, where she covered some of NYC’s biggest stories and built a reputation for investigative reporting that gets results.

Her investigation into allegations that a Brooklyn priest sexually abused a former seminarian led the Diocese of Brooklyn to remove the priest from ministry. She also exposed an alleged real estate scam involving a man accused of taking renters’ money for apartments and then ghosting them, helping bring attention to additional alleged victims, that led to the suspect being arrested again. Her coverage of the partial collapse of a NYCHA building in the Bronx earned a New York Press Club Deadline Club Award.

Before returning home to New York, Kelly worked as an investigative reporter in Cleveland, where her reporting exposed a former dance teacher who sexually abused children, ultimately leading to his arrest and conviction. Her reporting was nominated for two Emmy awards. In Raleigh, North Carolina, her investigation into a nonprofit accused of selling untrained service dogs to families with children with autism helped prompt complaints to the state Attorney General’s Office and led to criminal charges and the arrest of the organization’s owner.

Throughout her career, Kelly’s investigative reporting has led to arrests, criminal investigations, and institutional action. Her work has earned multiple Emmy nominations, an Associated Press investigative reporting award and an Edward R. Murrow Award.

Kelly Kennedy grew up in Brooklyn and on Long Island and is honored to be telling stories in the communities that raised her. When she’s not working, Kelly enjoys Pilates, kickboxing, cooking, hanging with her husband and two cats, and traveling whenever she can.
