Hayley Fixler
Hayley Fixler is a reporter with FOX 5 NY.
She was born and raised just outside of Washington, D.C.
Her passion for news and storytelling has led her all over the country and the world.
Hayley spent time interning in D.C. and working with NBC News' political unit during the 2016 election. She also lived in Israel for a short time, where she reported sports and local news, shifting to war coverage when the 2014 Gaza conflict began, for the Israel Broadcasting Authority.
Before joining FOX5, Hayley was an anchor and reporter at WNCN in Raleigh, North Carolina. She was the first on the scene after a professor was shot at the University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill, and for hours, led the station's live coverage. Hayley also covered the lengthy investigation into the mysterious death of two teenagers. She followed the resulting state law change made in the victims' names, which allowed North Carolina law enforcement officers to release details about juvenile suspects, in order to track them down and take them into custody.
Hayley also worked at WGHP in Greensboro, North Carolina, where she helped break the news of a High Point University student's hit list and plan to harm students at the school.
During her time at WBND in South Bend, Indiana, Hayley covered several national stories, including the aftermath of a Michigan courthouse shooting. She also dug into the lasting impacts of lead paint on families living in the city, and co-created a series called "Addicted America."
Hayley is a graduate of the University of Maryland, College Park, and received her Broadcast Journalism degree from the Philip Merrill College of Journalism.
When she’s not working, Hayley can be found with her husband and rescue dog. She enjoys traveling, catching some Broadway shows, experimenting in the kitchen, and spending time with friends and family.
She would love to hear from you. Feel free to email her to say hi or share a story idea. You can also find her on Twitter, Instagram, and Facebook at @HayleyFixlerTV.
