Woman praised for 'incredible display of humanity' toward troubled stranger
A Canadian man said he witnessed the "most incredible display of humanity" on a train recently.
Tuesday, Facebook user Ehab Taha, who lives in British Columbia, shared a photo on Facebook of an older woman comforting a stranger.
"A 6'5" man, suffering from drug abuse andor mental health issues, was being very aggressive on the bus with erratic movements, cursing, shouting," Taha said.
According to Taha, other people riding on SkyTrain, the rapid transit metropolitan rail system of Greater Vancouver, were scared, but the 71-year-old woman reached out her hand and tightly gripped the stranger's hand to help him calm down. The troubled man sat down silently with tears in his eyes.
Taha said he spoke to the kindhearted woman, who gave him a simple explanation for her act of kindness.
"I'm a mother and he needed someone to touch," the woman said as she started to cry.
Taha's photo has been shared more than 14,250 times.
"Don't fear or judge the stranger on the bus: life does not provide equal welfare for all its residents," Taha said.
