New York City police say a woman parking a minivan accidentally struck and killed an 8-year-old boy in the Bronx.
The crash happened on East 215 St. in the Williamsbridge section of the Bronx around 6 p.m. Monday. Witnesses say the 34-year-old woman was attempting to parallel park when the minivan jolted forward and struck 8-year-old Cellou Daiollo, who was on the sidewalk. The vehicle pinned him to a small cement wall in front of the building. He suffered trauma to the head and was unconscious and unresponsive when emergency crews arrived.
Neighbors say the woman was a family friend who was taking the boy home from school.
