A New York City woman is accused of spraying New Jersey Walmart workers with pepper spray and then taking one worker hostage for a short period of time.

It happened at the customer service desk at a North Bergen store on Sunday afternoon.  Several people had to be treated at hospitals after reacting to the pepper spray.

Police say that Imani Jones, 39, was at the customer service desk of the Walmart and got into an argument with an employee.  She allegedly pulled out the pepper spray and targeted both employees and customers.  Five people reported that they were suffering from temporary blindness.

She then pulled out a knife and went into a nearby room, forcing an employee to stay in the room at knifepoint.

Police used their own pepper spray to subdue Jones and arrest her.  She now faces a list of charges.  She was released pending her next court hearing after facing a judge on Tuesday.
