NEW YORK (FOX5NY) - New York City police responded to a report of suspicious powder being found in the campaign office at Trump Tower on Thursday evening.
The FDNY responded to the building on 5th Ave. just after 8 p.m. Three people were put into isolation and were being evaluated. Hazardous materials crews were also on the scene.
They say the powder substance was found in an envelope in the 5th floor Donald Trump campaign office inside the building.
Police say a Trump staffer opened the letter containing the powder and immediately called police. It was unclear if the envelope also contained a letter. A spokeswoman for Trump's campaign didn't immediately respond to a request for comment.
The NYPD says the building was not evacuated during the incident. Donald Trump was in California campaigning during the incident.
The Notify NYC system sent out an alert to expect extensive traffic delays in the area.
In March, an envelope containing a non-hazardous white power and a threatening letter was sent to the Manhattan apartment of Donald Trump's son, Eric.
