The latest system comes after several inches of snow fell over the weekend across parts of New York, New Jersey, and Connecticut, causing slippery travel during what was thought to be one of the busiest travel periods of the year.

When will it snow?

According to the National Weather Service, New York City has a 40% chance of snow showers after 4 a.m. Tuesday.

"Snow showers swing through tonight which may lead to a slick commute tomorrow morning so be on the lookout," FOX 5 NY's Mike Woods said in a post on X, formally Twitter.

Residents in upstate New York will wake up Christmas Eve morning to a fresh snowfall or light snow still falling.

"By tomorrow morning, right around daybreak, some showers come through," Woods said. "Snow, maybe mixing with a little bit of rain make a quick little blast-by for a couple of hours."

How much will it snow?

Uncertainty remains regarding how far south the snow will reach, but it's possible that New York City will pick up some light snowfall.
