Police want to know who cut down four trees at the 18-hole Trump Golf Links at Ferry Point in the Bronx.

A golf course manager discovered the damage Tuesday morning. Police recovered a chainsaw near one of the severed 30-foot trees.

Fox 5 News has learned that the vandalism may not be politically motivated. But it remained unclear who was responsible and the exact reason.

Surveillance camera footage shows two men jumping a fence. The remnants of the trees remain.

Advocates have objected to a proposal to extend the course into a 19-1/2 acre waterfront area that had been earmarked for future public park land.

The Trump Organization, which operates the city-owned course, said part of the land would become a wildlife sanctuary. It wants the redesign so major PGA tournaments could be held there.
