Thug throws 2 elderly women to ground in robbery

Security camera video shows a man drive up to two elderly women in the Woodlawn section of the Bronx and viciously assault them before taking off with a purse.

The robbery and attack occurred on May 22 at about 3:45 p.m. as the women were walking along Martha Avenue in the rain.

According to police, the man tried to take the purse from the 76-year-old woman but she resisted. He then threw her to the ground where she banged her head.

The other woman, 75, struck the man with her umbrella.

The video shows him throwing her to the ground before taking off in a blue Toyota Rav4 along southbound Martha Avenue.

Police describe the suspect as an 18- to 20-year-old black man, 140 pounds and 5 feet 6 inches.

He was last seen wearing a gray hooded sweatshirt with a white logo on his chest, tan pants, and brown boots.
