Texting in a movie theater? AMC considers lifting ban

Texting in theaters may be the next big thing.

The new head of AMC Theaters says he's open to the idea of allowing people to text in theaters. Adam Aron says he's considering experimenting with relaxing mobile phone bans.

Aron told Variety, "When you tell a 22-year-old to turn off the phone, don’t ruin the movie, they hear ‘Please cut off your left arm above the elbow. You can’t tell a 22-year-old to turn off their cellphone. That’s not how they live their life".

Aron is aware some people won't like the idea, so he's still trying to figure out how to implement the plan.

One idea is to have texting sections inside a theater or to simply designate entire screenings as texting-friendly.
