HAYWARD, Calif. - Two Alameda County Sheriff's deputies went above and beyond the call of duty to help a Hayward teenager.
The deputies met 17-year-old Anthony Aguirre during a traffic stop. They learned that the teen was sleeping on the floor because his mom, who is a single parent, couldn't afford to buy him a bed.
Anthony's story struck a chord with the deputies, who collected donations and bought a bed, pillows and sheet for Anthony.
The deputies then went to Anthony's house to deliver the bed and put it together. They said it's important for young people to get a good night's sleep.
