Suspect questioned in hotel murders
NEW YORK (FOX5NY) - Sources confirm to Fox 5 News that Joseph Danclair, the suspect in multiple hotel murders, was in police custody and was being questioned by detectives at the Midtiown South Police Precinct. Danclair was picked up in Manhattan Thursday night.
The NYPD was looking for Danclair who was seen on surveillance camera footage leaving the scene of two murders inside New York City hotels.
Danclair, 36, of Brooklyn, reportedly met two women on the street on two separate occasions and brought them to different hotels. The women were later found dead.
Danclair's fingerprint was found at one of the crime scenes.
On July 23, Chrissy Bevelaqua, 34, of Staten Island, was found at about 4:32 p.m. inside the Bushwick Hotel on Buschwick Avenue in Brooklyn. She was reportedly strangled.
On September 8, Antoinette Marin, 43, was found dead inside the Manhattan Broadway Hotel at about 4:15 p.m.
There was no evidence of sexual abuse, reported the NY Daily News.
The official causes of death have yet to be determined by the NYC Chief Medical Examiner.
Danclair has a long rap sheet dating back to 1995.
