Subway trash robot

A team of robots may one day be sucking all of the trash off of the tracks on the subway in New York City.  A trio of New York City science students have designed and built a robot that does just that.

The three Baruch College Campus High School students are heading to the White House to present their idea.  They designed a vacuum cleaner that can be moved along the subway tracks.  It would be attached to the back of a subway work train to suck up the litter.

The students used a Lemelson-MIT grant to design the robot.  Con Edison engineers helped mentor the teens with their design.
