BRANDON, Fla. - Residents at the Tessora of Brandon assisted-living facility in Brandon, Florida are exploring a new way to help fight memory loss: painting murals.
“This is kind of a new experience for me,” resident Lois Aszman told Fox 13 Tampa.
They’re helping paint a mural with the help of an art instructor and memory care specialists. These experts say that creating art can be a way to help remember feelings, which can be easier to remember than specific moments.
When they’re finished, the residents will be able to pass by the mural, and remember the role they played in creating it.
“It’s an amazing thing to walk up to a mural on a wall and realize you did those flowers,” said Aszman. “You did those plants, you were a part of that.”
