NEW YORK (FOX 5 NY) - A woman screaming that she wanted to die tried opening a door on a Delta flight as it approached LaGuardia Airport Friday afternoon, according to at least two passengers.
The Republic Airways regional jet, operating as Delta Connection 5935, was coming from Raleigh-Durham Airport when the woman emerged from the lavatory and grabbed the door, passenger Stacy Herbert wrote on Twitter.
"A young woman in perhaps her early twenties became suicidal and tried to open the door of plane as we descended into LGA. Her father pulled her from door," Herbert tweeted. "She was screaming her head off that she needed to open the door and die."
The FAA confirmed to FOX 5 NY that a woman tried to open an emergency exit but did not elaborate.
The plane, an Embraer ERJ-0175, landed at LGA at 1:09 p.m., according to FlightAware.
Port Authority police and other emergency personnel responded, according to several photos posted to Twitter.
