NEW YORK (FOX5NY) - Several schools in the tristate area are closing early on Monday, June 18, 2018 due to the excessive heat anticipated.
It was expected to be mostly sunny, hot, and humid on Monday with a chance of thunderstorms by the evening. Highs near 92 degrees were expected with heat indexes near 100 degrees. An Air Quality Alert was in effect for parts of the area.

NEW JERSEY
Newark Public Schools - 1 p.m.
Hacksensack School District- 12:30 p.m.
Jersey City Public Schools - 12:45 p.m.
Paterson School District- 1:10 p.m.
Edison Schools - Kindergarten AM: 11 a.m.; Kindergarten PM: 1:30 p.m.; Elementary Grades 1-5: 1:30 p.m.; Middle School 1 p.m.; High School 12 p.m.
Wayne Public Schools - Minimal day schedule
Bloomfield School District - 1/2 day schedule on Monday, June 18 and Tuesday, June 19
Harrison School District - 1:11 p.m.
Belleville School District - Early Dismissal
NEW YORK
Mamaroneck Schools - Elem Schools & Hommocks 11:30 a.m.
CONNECTICUT
Danbury School District - high school will dismiss at 10:30 am, the Alternative Center and REACH at 10:20 am, Endeavor at 11 am, the middle schools at 11:10 am, early elementary schools at 11:50 am and late elementary schools at 12:20 pm.
