Satanists upset over ornaments stolen from tree

A group of California satanists are pleading with the public to please stop stealing tree ornaments from their display at a San Jose park.

The atheistic satanists from Satanic Bay Area have a tree display at Christmas in the Park.  The winter event is an annual tradition for the city.

Hundreds of trees, along with other holiday decorations, are set up for the public to enjoy.

But Satanic Bay Area says its tree is being targeted.  Organizers say they hung 130 handmade ornaments and now more than half are missing.

Last year, something similar happened to a different group, Satanic Temple.  Their black goat head tree topper was stolen.

Folks at the event are not surprised by the vandalism.

"It's kind of ironic there's a Satanic Christmas tree, just in general. I'm surprised more hasn't happened to it," visitor Rory Fry said.

A spokesman with Christmas in the Park says the issue of stolen ornaments isn't exclusive to satanic sponsored trees.  Sponsors have been told in the past not to hand anything valuable.

Satanic Bay Area says it plans to reload the tree soon.
