Rita Moreno to return to new 'West Side Story' film

NEW YORK (FOX5NY) - Oscar winner Rita Moreno will reportedly return to play a new role in the latest film adaptation of the musical "West Side Story" set to begin filming next year.

Deadline reports that Steven Spielberg will direct the new version of the classic Leonard Bernstein-Stephen Sondheim musical.

In the new "West Side Story", Moreno will reportedly play Valentina, an expanded version of the character Doc from the 1961 film.

"Never in my wildest dreams did I see myself revisiting this seminal work," Moreno told Deadline.
