NEW YORK (FOX5NY) - A new survey founds some restaurant meals, even on the breakfast menu, pack in almost a day's worth of calories along with at least a day's worth of saturated fat, sodium or added sugar.
The advocacy group Center for Science in the Public Interest released a report called Xtreme Eating 2018.
It listed The Cheesecake Factory Breakfast Burrito the "worst way to start the day" because it contains 2,730 calories, 3 1/2 days worth of saturated fat and about 2 days worth of salt. The authors say that's the equivalent of eating seven McDonald's Sausage McMuffins.
The group used 2,000 calories, 2,300 mg of sodium, 20 g of saturated fat and 50 g of added sugar as the recommended daily limits.
Another dietary horror show was the AMC movie theater chain's Bavarian Legend Soft Pretzel. The 1.5 pound "snack" contains more white flour than a loaf of bread and has 1,920 calories and more than 3 days worth of salt.
The group also went after Chili's for its Honey-Chipotle Crispers & Waffles. The waffles are topped with the restaurant chain's battered fried chicken strips, topped with bacon, jalapenos and ancho-chile ranch. It's served with fries and honey-chipotle sauce.
It comes in at 2,510 calories, 40g of saturated fat, 4,480 mg of salt and an estimated 105 g of added sugar. They say that is the equivalent of eating 5 Krispy Kreme glazed doughnuts along with 30 McDonald's Chicken McNuggets and 5 packets of barbecue sauce.
Another meal that is targeted is Shake Shack's Double SmokeShack burger meal. The Double cheeseburger topped with all-natural applewood smoked bacon, chopped cherry pepper, and ShackSauce. When paired with fries and a Peanut Butter Shake. That clocks in at 2,240 calories, 55 g of saturated fat, 3,170 mg of sodium and an estimated 42 g of added sugar. They say that would be like eating 3 McDonald's Quarter Pounders with Cheese plus 3 McDonald's Vanilla Cones.
