Report: Trump dictated son's statement about Russian lawyer meeting

President Donald Trump may have put himself in trouble trying to help Donald Trump Jr., his son, according to a report.

The younger Trump met with a Russian attorney during the campaign who promised to have "dirt" on Hillary Clinton. Trump Jr. never mentioned the meeting. The Russian attorney reportedly has ties to the Russian government.

But when the existence of the meeting became public nearly a year later, the president wanted to help with damage control. President Trump personally dictated his son's response statement, according to a Washington Post report.

The statement claimed the meeting was primarily about the adoption of Russian children. The initial statement later appeared to be misleading at best as more information about the meeting came out.

The multiple investigations into the alleged meddling by Russia into the U.S. presidential election as well as leaks to the media continue to dog the Trump administration.
