Rap legend Kidd Creole accused of killing homeless man

NEW YORK (FOX5NY) - The stabbing death of a homeless man in Midtown Manhattan Tuesday night is now being blamed on one of the founding fathers of hip hop: The Kidd Creole of Grandmaster Flash and the Furious Five.

An argument quickly turned violent and then deadly, sources told Fox 5 News. Now the legendary old-school rapper is facing murder charges.

NYPD detectives escorted a handcuffed Nathaniel Glover, Kidd Creole's legal name, from the 13th Precinct to Central Booking Wednesday night.

Police have charged the 57-year-old rap legend with second-degree murder in the death of a 55-year-old man.

Officers found the wounded man on East 44th Street near 3rd Avenue just before midnight. He was stabbed multiple times in the chest, the NYPD said. Medics brought him to Bellevue, where he was pronounced dead.

Security camera video recorded Kidd Creole repeatedly stabbing the man, sources said. Police picked Kidd Creole up at his home in the Bronx Wednesday afternoon and questioned him for hours.

Grandmaster Flash and the Furious Five were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2007. They had a string of high-impact hits in the early 1980s and are considered pioneers in what is now the most popular music genre in the world.

Glover was awaiting arraignment Thursday in Manhattan. No information on an attorney for Glover was immediately available.
