A woman in Queens has been arrested for allegedly leaving the scene after fatally striking a pedestrian on Long Island on Wednesday, Nassau County police said.

Police said 39-year-old Veronica Marmol of College Point was charged with leaving the scene of an incident resulting in death.

The incident happened near the intersection of Old Country Road and Floral Avenue in Plainview at 5:55 p.m.

Police said a 38-year-old man was crossing Old Country Road from north to south in the vicinity of Floral Avenue when he was allegedly struck by a 2018 Jeep Wrangler traveling eastbound on Old Country Road.

Marmol didn't stop and continued eastbound, police said. Police said the man had serious injuries and died at the scene.

Police have not identified the victim at this time.
