Driver shot in the head, killed in Queens

Police are investigating after they say a man driving a car in Queens was shot in the head and killed on Monday afternoon, sending his car crashing into a pedestrian on the street.

Police are investigating after they say a 66-year-old man driving a car in Queens was shot in the head and killed on Monday afternoon.

The man was reportedly driving a grey Nissan Rogue near 117th Road and Farmers Boulevard in Saint Albans when he was struck by gunfire, causing his car to veer off course.

The car then struck a 23-year-old woman who was walking nearby, before hitting a building.

The man was pronounced dead at the hospital. The woman is currently hospitalized in stable condition.

The manager of a nearby Popeye's restaurant showed FOX 5 NY surveillance camera footage that appears to show a group of teens near the scene of the crash. One individual appears to make a shooting motion, sending the teens running.

The manager, who said he has frequently called police about after-school fights near the restaurant, said the incident marked the first time those altercations had escalated to gunfire.

The NYPD is still investigating the shooting, and so far, no arrests have been made.
