NEW YORK (FOX 5 NY) - The contractor tasked with repairing the Pulaski Skyway says the work is behind schedule, announced Jersey City Mayor Steven Fulop.
The repairs on the 80-year -old span connecting Newark and Jersey City are part of a $1 billion project designed to have the bridge last another 75 years.
But that work won't be completed for at least another year.
Construction began in April 2014, but officials reported some steel joints deteriorated from road salt. Construction crews found that the damage was worse than expected.
Officials earlier said work would end later this year.
The state Transportation Department says it plans to reevaluate a timetable at the end of winter.
