NEW YORK (FOX 5 NY) - President Donald Trump attacked director Spike Lee for his Oscar acceptance speech on Sunday night.
The president tweeted Monday morning saying that Lee had delivered a "racist hit on your President" after winning the best adapted screenplay award for "BlacKkKlansman."
On stage Lee began by unleashing an expletive as he warned Oscar producers not to put a clock on his speech.
After talking about slavery and racism, he waded into politics, citing the 2020 presidential election and calling on people to mobilize and "be on the right side of history. Make the moral choice between love versus hate."
He ended with, "Let's do the right thing - you know I had to get that in there."
In his Monday response President Trump repeated claims he has made in the past the he "has done more for African Americans (Criminal Justice Reform, Lowest Unemployment numbers in History, Tax Cuts, etc.) than almost any other Pres!"
