Police say subway 'surfer' falls to death in NYC

NEW YORK (AP) — Police say a man who was "surfing" on the outside of a New York City subway car has fallen to his death.

The accident happened shortly after 3 p.m. Saturday just north of the West Fourth Street station in Greenwich Village.

Police say the unidentified man was holding onto one of the doors of a subway car when he lost his grip and fell.

Service on several subway lines was rerouted while police investigated the death.
