San Francisco police Tuesday released the booking photo of a man who allegedly threw a dog to its death from the seventh floor of a parking garage over the weekend.

Wakeen Best, 35 of San Francisco, was taken into custody on Sunday after a police sergeant saw him in the area of Polk and Bush streets. He was arrested on suspicion of numerous offenses, including animal cruelty and auto burglary, police said.

Around 2 p.m. Saturday, police responded to the 200 block of Stockton Street to investigate a report of an auto burglary and a dead dog.

Police investigated and determined that Best allegedly broke into the victim's vehicle and threw the dog, named Dunky, from a ledge onto the street below. The crime was captured on a dash camera, police said.

Although an arrest has been made, anyone with information about this case can call the San Francisco Anonymous Tip Line at (415) 575-4444 or send a text to TIP411 and begin the message with SFPD.
