Police: Cell phone theft lead to child porn charges

He was the victim of a crime which ultimately led police to put him behind bars on child pornography charges.

Gwinnett County Police said they tracked down and arrested 38-year-old Bradley Duckett of Dacula after his cell phone was found with other stolen items in a stolen car found in Flowery Branch.

Corporal Wilbert Rundles said weeks later, investigators tracked down and arrested Duckett when trying to return stolen merchandise found in the stolen car to him and other of the car-burglary victims.

“Electronics, cell phones, purses debit cards, credit cards, the usual things like that,” said Corporal Rundles.

Rundles said because of the sensitive nature of the crime involving children the police report wasn’t available.

Jail records stated Duckett was charged with possession or control of material depicting a minor in sexually explicit conduct and child molestation.

Investigators said Duckett did not report his phone had been stolen from his car.

“I don’t know if he thought he lost it, I’m not sure how it came about,” said Corporal Rundles.

Duckett was being held Wednesday evening without bond as police try to determine if there could be other victims.

“We don’t have any indication that we believe at this point in the investigation there are any other victims involved or any danger to any other victim,” said Corporal Rundles.
