Pilot lands small plane on Hudson River due to fading light
NEW YORK (FOX 5 NY) - The pilot of a small, two-seat single-engine airplane landed in the Hudson River Thursday night just as the visibility started to fade, according to police.
Just as the clouds moved in and the rain came down over the Hudson, the plane made a controlled landing on the water near Piermont in Rockland County.
Piermont EMS and firefighters responded to the plane, the Piermont Police Department said in a Facebook post. The Tarrytown Marine Unit also responded and the towed the plane to shore in Piermont.
The pilot, who was not hurt, was the only person on board, officials said.
Authorities are investigating what happened.
