Some cellphone users didn’t delete the TikTok app from their devices during its short ban in the U.S. However, others who either deleted or never downloaded the app can’t access it because it’s still not available in the Apple and Google app stores in the U.S.

Now, people who still have the TikTok app on their phone are hoping to sell them to capitalize on consumers clamoring to use the popular social media platform.

What are phones with the TikTok app listing for?

By the numbers:

On eBay, sales for phones with the TikTok app range from $510 to $25,000. That price tag might seem steep, and it’s not clear if people are actually purchasing used phones at the listed prices.

One eBay user in Florida, listed an iPhone 15 Pro Max "With TikTok" for $10,000 or best offer. Citing the listing, USA Today reported that the device has received more 1,800 views over the last 24 hours.

According to USA Today, another eBay seller in Raleigh, North Carolina listed a 128 gigabyte iPhone 15 Pro with TikTok and Cap Cut, a video-editing app, installed for over $4.5 million.

Separately, most of the more than 2,000 phones with the TikTok app being auctioned on eBay do not have active bids. And these devices that do have offers are older iPhone models that are selling for between $100 to $200.

Rolling Stone reported that GameStop recently announced that store locations would be accepting phones with TikTok downloaded, though the stores already accept phones and they do not appear to be offering a premium for TikTok-loaded devices.

Will TikTok return to the Google and Apple app stores?

TikTok's return to Google and Apple app stores is unknown, but President Donald Trump signed an executive order granting TikTok a 75-day reprieve to continue operating in the U.S., allowing its China-based parent company additional time to secure a U.S. buyer.

And he even proposed a joint venture suggesting that the U.S. receive 50% ownership of the social media platform.

Big picture view:

The president’s executive order provides temporary relief to TikTok’s 170 million U.S. users, who faced uncertainty over the platform’s future. However, the president’s legal authority to override the law remains unclear, raising questions about whether the reprieve will hold up in court.
