Parkchester Zaro's closes after 5 decades
NEW YORK (FOX 5 NEWS) - Stephen Zavadosky has been coming to Zaro's Bread Basket in the Parkchester section of the Bronx since he was 16. On Monday, he came back for a coffee and a scone one last time before it closes for good.
For the regulars and there are so many of them it's one of those places that when you walk in the door they know your name and your order. This is been Rita Reynolds corner spot for 35 years.
Stuart Zaro , co-owner, says his family was not offered the chance to renew the lease here and after 55 years it will close to be replaced by a Boston Market. Zaro can't even guess how many loaves of challah bread, Danishes, or those famous black-and-white cookies they've served over the years. All he knows is it's the end of something special.
